The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia (RA) has issued a statement regarding the number of Armenian casualties of the 44-day war in 2020.

“The RA Investigative Committee considers it necessary to inform that 3,833 people died as a result of the 44-day war in 2020, of whom 3,755 were servicemen, 78—civilians. The whereabouts of 191 people are unknown, of whom 172 were servicemen, 19—civilians,” the statement said.

During a visit to CEVRO University in Prague a few days ago, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan had announced the number of Armenian casualties in the 44-day war, stating 4,800. “During the 44-day war, we had 4,800 casualties, we had losses of Karabakh territory,” he had stated.

Following this announcement, Aghasi Margaryan, head of the public relations department of the Armenian president’s office, in response to an inquiry from Armenpress, had clarified that there had been an error and the actual number of Armenian casualties was 3,755.
