Iceland has summoned the US ambassador to its foreign ministry after US President Donald Trump posted a map showing Iceland, Greenland, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean under the American flag, Icelandic RUV television reports.

The map, posted by Trump on Truth Social, lists the entire territory from Canada to the Caribbean as the "United States of America." The US president did not provide any explanation for the post.

Icelandic Foreign Minister Thorgerdur Gunnarsdottir summoned US Ambassador Billy Long, who had officially taken office in Reykjavik just a month ago.

The foreign ministry of Iceland stated that the latter's position was clearly conveyed to the American side, and the aforesaid post was described as “completely inappropriate.”
