Political consultations, headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia Ani Avetisyan and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq Mohammed Bahr Al-Uloom, were held in Baghdad Tuesday between the foreign ministries of Armenia and Iraq.

During the meeting, a wide range of matters on the bilateral agenda and multilateral cooperation were discussed, including ways to further deepen trade and economic ties between the two countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The interlocutors touched also upon the promotion of cooperation in high technology, education and tourism, the possibility of restoring direct flights, expanding the legal and contractual framework, and further strengthening cooperation between Armenia and Iraq on international platforms.

In addition, views were exchanged on the latest developments in the South Caucasus and the Middle East as well as on a number of matters of mutual interest on the international agenda.

At the end of the political consultations, the memorandums of understanding on cooperation in youth and sports affairs as well as on cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia and the Foreign Service Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iraq were signed.
