Before the November 3 midterm elections, US President Donald Trump’s administration plans to pay $500 to about 1 million Americans participating in the preferential health insurance program, sources say, Axios reports.

This is a mandatory health insurance program for US citizens who do not have commercial insurance, which, after the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, was named “Obamacare.”

The Trump administration believes that in recent years, excess funds have accumulated in the insurance fund due to premiums paid by program participants. Additional funds have also been formed as a result of Trump’s policy aimed at reducing costs within the framework of the preferential insurance program.

These funds have been transferred to government accounts, and now the Trump administration plans to write out about 1 million checks for compensation in the amount of $500.

Axios notes that Trump intends to present these payments to voters as a success of his administration in health care and thereby increase the level of support for the Republican Party.
