Armenia plans to launch at least three satellites, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced Thursday at the roundtable discussion on “Visions for the Space infrastructure(s) of the Future” on the margins of the International Space Summit in Paris.

According to him, the Armenian government’s 2026-2031 program defines the development of national space capabilities as a separate strategic objective. Two of the satellites will be for Earth observation and one for telecommunications.

According to the Armenian premier, at the same time, it is necessary to develop Armenia’s own ground infrastructure and internal capabilities for satellite management, data reception, processing, and analysis.

Also, they plan to create a distributed network of ground stations that can serve not only Armenia’s national needs, but also support international space missions and the growing demand for satellite data and services, Pashinyan added.

He recalled that in 2022, Armenia launched its first satellite, Armsat-1, which was developed using European technology and launched into orbit by SpaceX. Just a year later, Hayasat-1 was launched into space, which is the first Armenian satellite fully assembled and tested by Armenian specialists.

According to Pashinyan, Armenia aims to participate more actively in international space programs, enabling Armenian engineers and companies to contribute to the design, engineering, and production of complex systems and equipment for space exploration.
