There is no arrangement for me to visit Baku, these rumors are not true. Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, told this to reporters Friday, referring to the statement by the wife of former Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) state minister and well-known businessman and philanthropist Ruben Vardanyan—who is being held in a prison in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan—who had called on Simonyan to also visit the Armenian prisoners during a possible visit to Baku.

The head of the Security Council of Armenia noted that there was no arrangement to visit Baku, and there was not even a talk about it.

“Yes, it is planned that some mutual visits will take place. But first of all, who said that it is about Baku? There was no such conversation. Secondly, there is no conversation in connection with the timeframes. I did not talk about Baku. You remember that the assistant to the president of Azerbaijan, [Hikmet] Hajiyev, visited the [Armenian] city of Dilijan. And it is planned that at some point, the secretary of the Security Council [of Armenia], who is the person working with him, will also visit Azerbaijan, but not Baku, because logic suggests that it will be some other city, because we received [Hajiyev] in another [Armenian] city, not in the capital,” said the secretary of the Security Council of Armenia.
