Iran has successfully connected its power grid to the power grids of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, and Iraq, Iranian energy minister Abbas Aliabadi said, ILNA reports.
“In order to become an ‘energy hub,’ the [Iranian] government is seeking to connect to the power grids of Russia and countries in the Southern Hemisphere,” Aliabadi added.
