The Armenian embassy in Germany hosted an official reception on the occasion of the upcoming 35th anniversary of Armenia's independence, the embassy reports.

The event brought together representatives of the German state and political circles, members of the Bundestag, heads of diplomatic missions and diplomats accredited in Germany, representatives of the German federal and local authorities, members of the Armenian community, as well as representatives of public, cultural, academic, and business circles.

The ambassador of Armenia to Germany, Viktor Yengibaryan, and the director general for Europe at the German Federal Foreign Office, Christoph Israng, delivered opening remarks.

In his remarks, Ambassador Yengibaryan emphasized the importance of Armenia’s independence as a major achievement of the Armenian people and a fundamental value of statehood, and underscored the ongoing efforts to strengthen Armenia’s sovereignty, develop democratic institutions, and build a stable and peaceful future for the country.

Referring to the progress made in recent years in deepening of relations between Armenia and Germany, the ambassador of Armenia highlighted the joint declaration on the strategic agenda for bilateral partnership signed by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in December of last year as an important milestone in bilateral partnership.

In his remarks, the Armenian ambassador to Germany touched also upon the symbolic importance of awarding Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan Germany’s Hessian Peace Prize.

In turn, Christoph Israng congratulated the Armenian people on the upcoming 35th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, and stressed the importance of friendly relations and close partnership between Armenia and Germany.
