Peace does not mean a one-time solution to all problems; it does not mean that we agree on everything. Moreover, many things related to Azerbaijan will irritate us, our people, including from the point of view of identity.

The speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Ruben Rubinyan, stated this on Monday in an interview with state-funded Public Television of Armenia. “Peace means that the two sides must mutually recognize each other’s right to exist, mutually recognize each other’s borders and not shoot at each other. This is the fundamental definition of peace.

Above this level, there are agreements on mutual understanding regarding historical events, we are trading, etc. We have reached the fundamental definition of peace, and there are issues on which we will not reach an agreement and will get angry and irritated. It is good that we have a disagreement on this issue, and not on shooting at each other.

We need to move forward calmly, but this statement does not benefit the cause of maintaining peace. We [i.e. Armenia] respond appropriately to everything, as necessary and based on interests,” added the speaker of the Armenian parliament.
