Yesterday, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, referring to the TRIP project, said: “The section of the TRIP that passes through the territory of Armenia, which is considered the territory of Armenia, its entry and exit will be carried out through Azerbaijan.”

What does “its entry and exit will be carried out through Azerbaijan” mean? Will the current legislation of Armenia be fully applied to implement the TRIP? Or are there any changes planned that will include the agreements you are negotiating with Azerbaijan?

MP Marianna Ghahramanyan from the opposition “Strong Armenia” Faction asked this question during the lawmakers’ question-and-answer session with the government at the National Assembly of Armenia on Wednesday, addressing Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

And Pashinyan responded as follows: “There is no other option that TRIPP's two entrances and two exits should not be from Azerbaijan; there is no other option. TRIPP is from the border of Azerbaijan to the border of Azerbaijan. You suggest not mentioning the [TRIPP] agreement. So what should we do? (...). The Constitutional Court [of Armenia] has deemed the [TRIPP] agreement compliant with the constitution [of Armenia], and it will come to the National Assembly.

You could have read the agreement and you would have found the answers to all your questions there, you would have seen that it writes: the jurisdiction of the Republic of Armenia itself, etc. is not subject to discussion, it will act within the framework of jurisdiction, territorial integrity.”
