Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan agrees with the view that Azerbaijan has occupied the territories near Sev Lake and Jermuk city, which are an integral part of Armenia. Responding to a question from MP Anush Mirzoyan during a question-and-answer session with the government Wednesday in the National Assembly, Pashinyan stated that both he and other representatives of the ruling power in Armenia have repeatedly spoken about this in the past.

As for the timeframes for the withdrawal of Azerbaijani forces from the occupied territories of Armenia, Pashinyan did not give a direct answer, and noted that the issue should be resolved within the framework of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border delimitation process.

As a guarantee of withdrawal, he pointed to the charter of the joint activities of the border delimitation commissions, which was signed and ratified as an interstate document by the Armenian parliament of the previous convocation. The premier advised the aforesaid lawmaker to familiarize herself with this document and briefly presented its essence, noting that the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991 is enshrined as its fundamental basis.

“Let me say more: there are territories of Armenia that have been under occupation since 1990. These and other territories are the subject of border delimitation, and the issue will be resolved within the framework of the procedures established by the [border delimitation] commissions’ charter,” Pashinyan added.
