Voting in the Russian State Duma elections has ended in Armenia.

The respective polling stations at the Russian Embassy in Yerevan and the Russian Consulate General in Gyumri closed at 20:00 local time, Russian diplomats reported.

“The embassy polling station closed exactly at 20:00,” Dmitry Danilov, spokesman for the Russian Embassy in Armenia, told RIA Novosti.

The end of voting was reported also by the Russian Consulate General in Gyumri.

Two main polling stations were set up in Armenia for these elections: at the Russian Embassy in Yerevan and the Russian Consulate General in Gyumri. Additional voting was held at the Russian military base in Gyumri and at the Erebuni air base in Yerevan.

Russian citizens over the age of 18 who permanently reside or are temporarily in Armenia were eligible vote. No pre-registration was required.

A queue had formed outside the Russian Embassy polling station in Yerevan throughout the day. According to RIA Novosti, about a thousand people had voted there by noon.
