Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan on Tuesday attended the official opening ceremony of the Global Conference on Medical Tourism, informed the economy ministry of Armenia.

Welcoming the attendees, Papoyan noted that Armenia has important prerequisites for the development of medical tourism: highly qualified specialists, modern medical equipment, demand for services, as well as rich cultural and tourism potential.

“The development of medical tourism can contribute not only to the expansion of healthcare services, but also to the development of tourism, hospitality, transport and related sectors, creating new economic opportunities,” the Armenian economy minister noted.

During the conference, the trends in the development of medical tourism in Armenia, the challenges and prospects of the sector, as well as the application of international experience and opportunities for cooperation were discussed.
