The court, based on the defense's motion, on Tuesday commuted the pretrial detention of former opposition MP Aregnaz Manukyan to house arrest with a ban on contact with others, lawyer Tatevik Soghoyan reported.

As per Soghoyan, Manukyan will go home after the court hearing.

According to the accusation, former opposition lawmaker Andranik Tevanyan had passed secret information from a closed session of the National Assembly to a Russian center in 2024 through former opposition legislator Aregnaz Manukyan. The charges on espionage and collection by a foreign special service that were initially made were later removed or replaced with an Armenian criminal code article on the disclosure of state secrets, but the defense considers this accusation unfounded.
