The newly appointed consul general of Iran in Kapan, Armenia, Davoud Yayji, has arrived in Armenia’s Syunik Province and assumed his official duties, the press service of the Iranian Consulate General in Kapan informs.

It is noted that Yayji has many years of diplomatic experience. Previously, he worked in Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Russia, and China. His professional interests include the geopolitics of the South Caucasus, Iran-Azerbaijan relations, the processes surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, and regional security issues.

The statement emphasizes that the start of Yayji’s mission in the "heart of Syunik" can open a new chapter in strengthening ties between the peoples of Iran and Armenia.

The activities of Iran’s new consul general in Kapan are expected to contribute to the development of cooperation in the economic, trade, cultural, and tourism sectors, as well as the expansion of ties with local authorities and non-governmental organizations.
