Colombia has officially broken diplomatic relations with Iran as of September 19, this Latin American country's foreign ministry said in a statement.
Colombian authorities cited national security concerns, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran's obstruction of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspections in the country as reasons for this decision.
The severance of diplomatic ties, however, does not mean the cessation of the work of consulates.
