Armenian Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan on Monday met with members of the delegation from the Council of the European Union Working Party on Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Sargsyan noted that the close and constructive cooperation and joint agenda established between Armenia and the European Union (EU) enable tangible results, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Minister Sargsyan, as the chief negotiator of the Armenian side in the Armenia-EU visa liberalization process, highlighted the successful progress of this process, considering it one of the Armenian government's priority directions.

Also, Sargsyan emphasized Armenia's commitment and determination to fully implement the Armenia-EU visa liberalization action plan. Speaking about the timeframes for the implementation of this action plan, the minister noted that the Armenian side has set 2029 as the deadline.

In her assessment, the proper implementation of this action plan will ensure tangible results in strengthening democratic institutions in Armenia and ensuring a visa-free regime with the EU.

Referring to the priorities of the visa liberalization action plan, Minister Sargsyan considered migration management to be key. According to her, one of the most important measures in this regard is the introduction of a new biometric system in the format of a public-private partnership, which will be launched on November 1.

Speaking about integrated border management, the minister emphasized that Armenia is committed to introducing an integrated system with the aim of transitioning to a new model for ensuring security. An integrated border management strategy is also being developed, which is planned to be submitted for approval by the Armenian government by the end of the year.
