Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) spokesperson Maria Zakharova suggested, during Wednesday's press briefing, to wait for explanations from Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, after his statement that relations between Yerevan and Moscow will no longer be the same.

This is how Zakharova answered the following question from a reporter: "Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that relations between Yerevan and Moscow will no longer be the same. And how does Russia itself assess the status of relations with Armenia?"

"There is a need to find out what Nikol Vovayevich Pashinyan was talking about when he was stating that relations between Yerevan and Moscow will no longer be the same. Maybe he meant that they will be even better," Zakharova said.

She noted that the Russian side does not intend to give an additional assessment to the Armenian premier's aforesaid statement for the time being. “So, let’s wait for his clarification on this matter, and then we will comment,” the Russian MFA spokesperson added.

Pashinyan had earlier stated that relations between Armenia and Russia were in a transformational phase and would never be the same again. At the same time, on September 25, he had said that these relations should develop on the basis of friendship and mutual respect.
