Past newspaper of Armenia writes as follows, in particular: Azerbaijan’s authorities continue to actively use diplomatic channels to legitimize at the international level the [Armenian] ethnic cleansing, destruction and appropriation of [Armenian] historical and cultural monuments carried out in Artsakh [i.e. Nagorno-Karabakh].
According to the Past daily’s information, “HayaQve” [national civil association] has addressed petition-complaints to the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, Magdalena Grono, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mexico to Azerbaijan, Maria Victoria Romero Caballero, the MFA of Mexico, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In an interview with Past, “HayaQve” reported that the basis of the petitions is the diplomatic visit to the territories of [Azerbaijani-] occupied Artsakh, organized in September at the initiative of Hikmet Hajiyev, aide to the president of Azerbaijan. According to the organization, such events are aimed at the blatant distortion, appropriation of the identity of the Armenian historical and cultural heritage and the consistent elimination of the Armenian historical trace in Artsakh.
“HayaQve” records that such staging with the participation of international diplomats should not serve to internationally legitimize the anti-Armenian realities, cultural falsification, and disregard for the rights of displaced [Artsakh] Armenians created by Baku in Artsakh.
“HayaQve” demands from international partners to clearly separate normal diplomatic and economic cooperation with Azerbaijan from the policy of appropriation of Armenian heritage, to take a clear position on the protection of Armenian spiritual and cultural values, to support the entry of an independent UNESCO mission to Artsakh, as well as to defend in all international instances the fundamental right of Artsakh Armenians to return to their homeland safely, with dignity, and without preconditions.
“HayaQve” reports that they are determined to consistently raise these issues on all international platforms.
