An event dedicated to the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), to be held in Armenia’s capital Yerevan this month, was held Wednesday at the European Parliament, in Brussels, informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia.

The keynote speaker at the event was Ambassador Mher Margaryan, Special Envoy of the Armenian Presidency of COP17, and he presented the priorities of this presidency and the preparations for this conference in Yerevan.

Also, Margaryan touched upon the deepening cooperation between Armenia and the European Union (EU), emphasizing the EU’s important role in funding biodiversity, as well as in integrating biodiversity considerations into economic and investment decision-making processes.

The discussions focused on the mobilization of biodiversity resources, monitoring, as well as international cooperation aimed at overcoming capacity gaps.

Participants welcomed Armenia's preparations for COP17 and its inclusive engagement with parties and stakeholders, underlining the importance of continued European engagement for the successful holding of this conference in Yerevan.
