The US Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, Riley Barnes toured the Matenadaran—i.e. the Armenian institute and museum of ancient manuscripts—and got familiarized with the Armenian manuscript heritage, Matenadaran reports.

Special exhibitions were held for the high-ranking guest, which included the presentation of masterpieces of Armenian manuscript art, the oldest examples of the Matenadaran's cartographic heritage, as well as the results of the Restoration and Publicization of the Written Heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh program, being implemented with the support of the US Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation.
At the end of the visit, Riley Barnes signed the Matenadaran's guest book.
