Ships from Israel and countries hostile to Iran, as well as vessels carrying military cargo, will not be able to pass through the Strait of Hormuz if a new bill on the security of the strategic route is passed, Hassan Ghashghavi, spokesman for the National Security Commission of the Iranian parliament, told Tasnim.
According to him, ships from other, non-hostile countries must obtain special permits from the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces to pass in accordance with the rules stipulated in the new law.
Ghashghavi noted that the bill has already been discussed in the respective parliamentary committee and will be submitted for debates in an open plenary session of the Iranian parliament, after which it will be sent for approval by the Guardian Council of the Iranian constitution.
