The White House is monitoring reports of a suspected plague case and related quarantines in Russia, an official from US President Donald Trump’s administration told Axios, the latter reports.

According to the official, the Trump administration is aware of the events and assessing possible options for the development of the situation.

The White House, however, officially declined to comment on this information, addressing respective questions to the US State Department, which, however, did not respond to a request for comment.

Russian health authorities have taken precautionary measures in response to the death of a woman who worked at an anti-plague research facility, but have not confirmed that she contracted plague.
