Trucks loaded with brandy from the Yerevan Ararat Brandy-Wine-Vodka Factory have been waiting on the Russian side of the Upper Lars checkpoint on the border between Russia and Georgia for about a month now, Armenian truckers told shamshyan.com.
They added that during this period, they have spent the money intended for purchasing food and fuel and are currently in a desperate situation.
“I want to note that nothing has changed in the composition of the brandy; that is, it is the same brandy that the factory was able to export [to Russia] without any problems a month ago. But at the moment, questions have arisen with the Russian side, and a sample has been taken, sent for test. At the moment, we are waiting for the results of the test," Inga Galustyan, public relations officer of the Yerevan Ararat Brandy-Wine-Vodka Factory, told Armenian News-NEWS.am, adding that it is about around two dozen trucks.
Galustyan noted that the question of why the decision to take samples was made if there had been no problems before is within the domain of the Russian side.
"The [truck] drivers also had raised the issue of payments. I want to note that our relations with freight forwarders are contractual, and these issues are beyond our domain," said the public relations officer of the Yerevan Ararat Brandy-Wine-Vodka Factory.
