Turkey continues construction of the Kars-Igdir-Aralik railway line, which is of great importance for the development of transport links within the “Zangezur Corridor,” said Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu, Ekovitrin reports.

Speaking at the Century of Turkey in Transportation and Infrastructure Summit, Uraloglu spoke about the development of the country’s railway network and noted that work was continuing on its Kars-Igdir-Aralik section.

According to the Turkish minister, this line is of strategic importance for strengthening Turkey’s railway links in the eastern direction. The project shall provide Turkey's transport network with access to Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan exclave through Turkey’s Dilucu border crossing, and further contribute to the development of communication between Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.

Uraloglu stated that Turkey intends to continue expanding its railway infrastructure, including taking into account its role in regional transport routes.
