A case of smuggling of particularly large-scale drugs from Iran to Armenia has been revealed and prevented as a result of the measures taken within the framework of the implementation of operational information received by the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia, the NSS informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

It was found out that Armenian citizens N.H. and V.T., together with an Iranian national whose identity has not yet been determined, were going to purchase—for the purpose of selling—particularly large-scale drugs smuggled into Armenia from Iran from a hideout near the Armenian-Iranian border.

It was found out that on September 29, N.H. and V.T. took the consignment of drugs smuggled into Armenia by an Iranian citizen from a specific hiding place indicated by the latter near Nrnadzor village, and headed to Yerevan on a car.

But the NSS prevented the activities of this criminal group and the latter were arrested in Meghri, Armenia.

A total of 69.3 kilograms of marijuana were found and seized in the aforesaid car.

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has opened a criminal case into this incident, and N.H. and V.T. have been detained by a court order.
