The European Commission of the European Union (EU) is preparing a 23rd package of sectoral sanctions against Russia, reports Politico.
It is believed that this package will be aimed at further reducing Russian revenues from oil sales.
Also, participants in the EU summit on Thursday are planning to call for additional restrictions on the oil and natural gas sector.
Kyiv expects the 23rd package of sanctions to be circulated to EU governments by the end of the year, according to a senior Ukrainian official.
The EU has decided to develop a new package of sanctions against Russian oil amid the deal US President Donald Trump struck with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to ease restrictions on Russian diesel exports, Politico adds.
