Belarus is not preparing to attack anyone, but is preparing for war—to prevent it, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said.
“I have said frankly and openly: we [i.e. Belarus] are preparing for war so we can prevent it. In recent times, our Western ‘friends’ have been making a fuss in the media that Russia is preparing to attack the Baltic states from the territory of Belarus and together with Belarus, perhaps even Poland. But we want to declare that there is no such thing,” Lukashenko said, reports the Pul Pervogo (The First's Pool) Telegram channel, close to the press service of the Belarusian president.
According to him, in the media recently, the so-called “partners” have been paying special attention to what is happening in the Belarusian armed forces.
"They were primarily concerned by the fact that we are conducting too frequent and very objective and intensive inspections of the units of the Armed Forces—not only in the army, but also in the entire Armed Forces," the Belarusian President added.
