The National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia has neither denied nor confirmed the news report on an Azerbaijani shepherd crossing the border into Armenia.
“Send a written request. When there is information subject to publicizing, the NSS disseminates official information. Also, I can urge [you] to follow the official news feed,” an NSS representative said in response to our inquiry with respect to the aforesaid news report.
Earlier, NewsTV5 reported that an Azerbaijani shepherd had crossed the border into Armenia.
“We were told that he was found and is currently at the military police of Berd city.
The MoD [i.e. the Ministry of Defense of Armenia] has not commented yet. In an interview with us, one of the Tavush [Province] community leaders said that he also has heard about it, but he does not have clear information, he said, ‘He came through the forests of our region.’
The NSS also told us that they do not have such information at the moment, they will find out, they will say. But after some time, they urged [us] to send a written request, which we have sent, and we will publicize as soon as we receive the answer.
We spoke also with another community leader, who said that he [i.e. the Azerbaijani shepherd] passed through the Aygedzor [village] section and is currently at the military police. The community leader said that although the weather was foggy and rainy, there is a theory that he [i.e. the Azerbaijani shepherd] willingly crossed the border and asked for political asylum [in Armenia],” the aforementioned website had added.
