Yes, Azerbaijan continues to raise the issue of amending the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia. Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Mirzoyan stated this while answering questions from MPs at Wednesday’s meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations.

The meeting discussed the draft on ratification of the framework agreement on strategic cooperation between Armenia and the US on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) regional transport project.

“Azerbaijan says [to Armenia]: ‘I have initialed the peace treaty, but I will not sign it until your constitution is changed.’ And we respond: ‘There is nothing worrying in our constitution,’” the Armenian foreign Minister noted.

At the same time, he emphasized that the Armenian side does not share the Azerbaijani approaches on this issue.

“And Azerbaijan, in response, says: ‘Very well, and we do not share your approaches,’” Mirzoyan added.

The Armenian foreign minister assured that currently, Armenia and Azerbaijan are not conducting any negotiations on the issue of the Armenia’s constitution.

“Armenia has announced that it is ready to clarify the place and time of signing the peace treaty in a short time; this approach is still relevant,” added the Armenian government member.
