To increase resilience, it is extremely important to achieve the unblocking of communications in the region as soon as possible. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at the Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government on Thursday.

According to him, the upcoming session of the Armenian parliament will ratify the agreement signed between Armenia and the United States on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) regional transport project.

An Armenian working group, led by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, had traveled Syunik Province on Wednesday to launch practical work of this project.

“We are moving to the stage of practical steps. This is a priority task for ensuring economic dynamics. Armenia and the US are at the final stage of establishing the TRIPP Development Company. The work to be carried out by us, as an investment from the Armenian side, will be entrusted to the management of that company,” the Armenian premier added.

In turn, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan detailed that the purpose of the working group’s aforesaid visit was to organize the launch of TRIPP planning work.

He emphasized that this program includes three main directions: railway, motorways, and energy infrastructure.

As per Grigoryan, everything is clear and specified regarding the railway route.

“We still need to do modeling regarding motorways, because there are difficult-to-pass sections. The final solution must be competitive. After all, it’s about a transit road. It will be competitive and cost-effective if we have an advantage in the region,” said the deputy premier of Armenia, adding that power lines will also be modeled.

“Planning work can be started on these three infrastructures without waiting for the formation of the TRIPP Development Company (TDC). We consider it right to start this work today,” Grigoryan said.
