There is logic that TRIPP can be implemented as primary and also have international significance: east-west, conventionally, I call it China-Portugal or vice versa. Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan on Thursday told this to reporters, regarding the prospects for the implementation of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) regional transport project.
“And it should be an important logistical hub with an international focus. And the other is the gradual opening of the border,” Mirzoyan added.
To the remark that TRIPP implies additional expenses, infrastructure and construction, he responded: “Building a railway is an expense, but it is definitely not unnecessary.”
And to the question whether it is possible to do all this without the TRIPP project, through the usual procedure, as, say, with Georgia, the Armenian foreign minister replied: "Where is the railway connection? There is also such a layer that the north of Armenia will be connected to the south of Armenia, Azerbaijan be connected to [its exclave] Nakhichevan. After all, that's how it was in the past."
