Mass unrest broke out in Bilbao, Spain, after an anti-fascist demonstration was dispersed, local newspaper 20minutos reported on Monday.
Hundreds of youth clashed with police. About six cars and trash cans were set on fire during the riots, and shops were looted. At least 19 people were arrested, many of them minors.
Hundreds of youth marched from various parts of Bilbao during the day to protest against “fascist provocateurs” and gathered outside the Bilbao campus of the University of Deusto, where a rally was held.
The demonstration was staged in protest against a public event by far-right political activist Vito Quiles. As a result, the planned event did not take place.
On the same day, a large-scale demonstration was held in central Madrid regarding the Spanish government's actions in resolving the migration crisis in Ceuta.
According to authorities, about 20,000 people took to the streets.
The demonstrators accused the authorities of failing to protect the borders of Spain and demanded snap elections.
According to the organizers, the protest was supported by about 180,000 people.
The manifesto publicized by the organizers demands that snap elections be held by November 15 and all migrants in Ceuta be returned to Morocco.
