US combat aircraft are conducting round-the-clock flights to ensure constant patrols in the Middle East, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The flights involve both fighters stationed at bases in the Middle East and aircraft stationed on aircraft carriers. All types of combat aircraft are used to perform operational tasks, including fifth-generation F-35 fighters, F-16 and F/A-18 fighters, as well as A-10 attack aircraft.
The most active participation in these patrols is shown by aircraft carrier-based fighters, based on two American aircraft carriers and a universal landing ship with aircraft carrier capabilities, which are on combat duty in the Arabian Sea, southeast of Iran.
According to the Military Air Tracking Alliance aviation resource, a total of about 250 American combat aircraft are currently concentrated near Iran. They are located at air bases, in particular in Jordan, Israel and Saudi Arabia, as well as on three aircraft carriers.
