Jeep is making its most popular aftermarket upgrade a factory option. The 2027 model year Gladiator pickup, in a special 35-inch Tire Launch Edition, will have 88.9cm diameter off-road tires still on the assembly line, Motor 1 reports.

Previously, owners had to install such wheels themselves. The limited edition will be available in Willys, Rubicon, and Rubicon X trims. In addition to the larger tires, it will have 17-inch (43.2 cm) bronze-plated wheels, a 2.54-centimeter raised suspension, reinforced Dana axles, high-performance brakes, and a 4.56 final drive.

The transmission will include a transfer case with a 4:1 reduction gear. The new Gladiator's ground clearance will increase by about 32.8 centimeters. The approach angle will be 46.7 degrees, the ramp angle will be 23.3 degrees, and the departure angle will be 26.7 degrees.

Such a configuration should improve rough-terrain ability and ensure the harmonious operation of the suspension and transmission without the need to select components independently. “Gladiator customers continue to personalize their vehicles to tackle bigger adventures, and 35-inch tires have consistently been one of the most popular modifications,” said Jeep CEO Branden Coté.

He added that the new version will enable to get the necessary off-road capabilities, confidence on rough terrain, and a distinctive appearance right from the factory. The large wheels are covered by widened wheel arches. Bronze badges, tow hooks, decorative graphics on the folding cover, side panels and rear distinguish the Launch Edition from the regular versions.

The Rubicon and Rubicon X versions will have additional decorative elements, while the Rubicon X will have special graphics on the doors and a folding cover with a separate sticker. Jeep has not yet announced the cost of this package and the number of special series.

Orders are already being accepted in North America, although the new version has not yet appeared in the Gladiator online configurator. The price of the most affordable Willys configuration compatible with the model starts at $ 47,630, including delivery, but without a new package surcharge. The new Gladiator can surpass some competitors in terms of ground clearance.

For example, in the case of the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison, this figure is about 31 centimeters with the same 88.9-centimeter tires. Moreover, the Jeep pickup will retain one of its main features—the removable doors and an open body structure, which enables the car to be driven almost like a convertible.
