The situation became tense and a brawl broke out Thursday morning in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia.

It all started with the speech of ruling majority “Civil Contract” Faction MP Taron Chakhoyan, where he said: "Mr. Karapetyan [i.e. opposition ‘Strong Armenia’ Faction leader Narek Karapetyan], it is not my fault that your entire family is involved in politics, including your uncle, your father, your cousin, the latter was even trying to open a ministry in our country. It is not my fault that he wanted to open a ministry that would satisfy all women. You have not apologized for it yet."

After that, the leader of the opposition "Strong Armenia" Faction in the NA, Narek Karapetyan, started shouting something from his seat.

Chakhoyan responded.

After that, the opposition lawmakers stood up, and a scuffle broke out.

Some other MPs tried to calm the situation, separate the fighting legislators.

In turn, NA speaker Ruben Rubinyan announced: “I will not interrupt the session specifically so that everyone can see all this. The session will continue. You decide whether there will be or there will not be a fight. Or disperse, sit down!”

The situation became even more tense, a real fight broke out among the lawmakers.

It was already unclear who was hitting whom.

Many legislators were injured.

Ultimately, Ruben Rubinyan called an intermission and summoned security officers inside the NA sessions’ hall.
