Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that he supports the contacts between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and confirmed Ankara's readiness to contribute to achieving lasting peace between the two countries.

"I support contacts between Armenia and Azerbaijan. I declare our [i.e. Turkey’s] commitment to continue to make the maximum possible contribution to achieving lasting peace," Erdogan said, speaking at the opening of the summit of the Organization of Turkic States, in Ankara.

According to him, conflicts in the region do not benefit any side and have serious consequences for the global economy, trade, and energy markets.
