The Republic of Armenia will withdraw its cases against Azerbaijan before international bodies after a peace agreement with Azerbaijan is finally signed. Lilit Makunts, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of Armenia, made the statement on November 3 at a joint meeting of the standing parliamentary committees during discussions of the draft state budget for 2027.
“The Republic of Armenia will never forgo defending its interests before any international body. As for the existing disputes between Armenia and Azerbaijan, in keeping with the logic of the peace process, a decision to withdraw cases against each other can, of course, be made, but this will happen only if the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan ultimately sign a peace agreement,” Makunts said, quoting Article 15 of the framework agreement signed in Washington by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
