In October 2026, ArmSwissBank actively participated in events on sustainable finance, nature conservation and business development held in Yerevan as part of COP17, the 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity. The Bank’s participation included presentations, panel discussions, working roundtables and meetings with international partners, highlighting the financial sector’s role in turning environmental priorities into viable investments.
“We believe banks can also serve as conveners, bringing together businesses, public institutions, communities and civil society organizations around shared environmental goals,” said Gevorg Machanyan, Chairman of the Management Board and Executive Director of ArmSwissBank, in an interview with Regional Post ahead of COP17. The interview explored the Bank’s two decades of experience in sustainable finance and the growing role of banks in protecting Armenia’s natural capital.
At events organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham Armenia), the Bank shared its experience in financing business models that support nature conservation and participated in a panel discussion on green finance, environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles, and biodiversity investment. The Bank was represented at these sessions by Ara Makaryan, Member of the Management Board, Deputy CEO and Director of the Business Development Department.
Examples of projects financed by the Bank in renewable energy, energy-efficient construction, water conservation, recycling and ecotourism demonstrated how environmental solutions can also reduce business costs and improve competitiveness.

During COP17, ArmSwissBank also organized a networking event in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), bringing together representatives of international financial institutions and organizations. The event provided an opportunity to exchange experience, strengthen professional relationships and explore new areas for cooperation.
The Bank’s accreditation by the Green Climate Fund in 2025 creates further opportunities to advance this work. During the conference, the Bank presented a programme being prepared in cooperation with the Fund to finance battery energy storage systems and support Armenia’s clean energy transition.
ArmSwissBank will continue working with international partners to develop financial solutions that support business modernization, the efficient use of natural resources and the preservation of Armenia’s natural heritage.
