YEREVAN. – Many are anticipating the fate of Armenian National Assembly’s now former Speaker, Samvel Nikoyan, Hraparak daily writes.

“It was apparent that he does not wish to continue working on the Parliament. By the way, US Ambassador John Heffern visited him at the last moment of his [Nikoyan’s] tenure, and this is noteworthy against the backdrop of the expected visit [to Armenia] by [US Secretary of State] Hilary Clinton. According to the well-informed, Nikoyan was also at [President] Serzh Sargsyan’s [office] on the same day.

[And] The meeting results became apparent. During the [ruling Republican Party of Armenia] RPA Executive Body session yesterday [Wednesday] evening, [RPA leader] Serzh Sargsyan said he sees Nikoyan in another domain.

Despite the claims that Nikoyan will head the Nature Protection Ministry, the RPA sources inform that [the serving Minister] Aram Harutyunyan will remain in office, whereas Nikoyan, who is an engineer by profession, in all likelihood will be given the position of either Urban Development Minister or Transport and Communication Minister,” Hraparak writes.
