STEPANAKERT. – An official delegation from the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic National Assembly (NKR NA), led by NA Speaker Ashot Ghulyan, is in London since Monday. 

The delegation arrived in the British capital at the invitation of the British-Armenian Parliamentary Friendship Group, NA Press Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

On the first working day of the visit, the NKR delegation attended the aforesaid Group’s annual meeting held at the British House of Lords. In her welcoming remarks, the Group’s chairwoman, Baroness Caroline Cox shared her impressions from her recent trip to Nagorno-Karabakh.

In his turn, Ashot Ghulyan thanked the UK parliamentarians for their care toward the people of Karabakh, assistance to the young republic, and contribution to the implementation of projects in the country. Afterward, he spoke about the NKR’s accomplishments in the past twenty years and the current phase in the Karabakh peace talks.     

On Tuesday, NKR NA Speaker delivered a presentation at the University of London (The School of Oriental and African Studies), on the topic of “Prospects for Stability and Progress in the Caucasus,’ and then he responded to audience’s questions.    

Subsequently, a reception was held in honor of Ashot Ghulyan, which brought together the leaders from British-Armenian organizations. At the event, the NKR NA delegation members underscored the Diaspora-Armenian organizations’ assistance to Karabakh, and pointed to the need for continuing this support.
