YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Healthcare Ministry submitted for the approval of the Government’s session on Thursday the 2012-2016 plan for controlling and preventing nosocomial infection.

A nosocomial infection, also known as a hospital-acquired infection or HAI, is an infection which the patient acquires while being treated or examined in a medical facility. And this infection is considered more dangerous because it is not cured for the most part.

No studies have been conducted in Armenia with reference to nosocomial infection. But the Ministry developed a program of preventive measures, since disease treatment is more expensive.

Specifically, this program envisions a greater role to the Scientific and Practical Center for the Prevention of Nosocomial Infection.
