YEREVAN.- Opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan refused to accept the post in the Committee on Ethics formed at the Armenian parliament.

Pashinyan, member of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) bloc, issued a statement hailing illegal and unacceptable the decision to appoint him as deputy chairman of the Committee on Ethics at the Armenian National Assembly.

In his statement Nikol Pashinyan said he learnt about his appointment from media reports.

“I hereby declare that I will not accept the post of deputy chairman of the Committee on Ethics. I also intend to participate actively in the work of the Committee, having as a priority the elimination of legal barriers for the Committee to consider the issues regarding behavior of MPs- oligarchs who consider themselves above the law, as well as filling in the gaps,” the statement reads.
