Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian participated in the European Union and Eastern Partnership foreign ministers’ meeting, which was held Monday in Brussels.

Addressing the session, Nalbandian stated that the Eastern Partnership’s past track-record and its current activities bespeak the program’s vitality.

“Eastern Partnership’s ministerial meetings offer a god opportunity to exchange views on stimulating cooperation.

Armenia recorded a considerable progress two years after commencing the [Armenia-EU] Association Agreement talks. We are anticipating a smooth progress in the talks on establishing a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade zone. The agreements on relaxing visa requirements and on readmission are finalized and we expect their ratification soon,” Armenia’s FM said.   

At the end of the even, the ministerial meeting adopted a joint statement.     

Prior to the session, however, Edward Nalbandian met with Štefan Füle, the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy. During the meeting they discussed the schedules for the future high-level visits, and reflected on the Armenia-EU interaction.      

And on Monday evening, Armenia’s FM met with Belgian FM and Deputy PM Didier Reynders. They discussed bilateral ties, exchanged views on Armenia-EU relations, and reflected on cooperation along the lines of the international La Francophonie organization.

Also, Armenia’s FM spoke about the efforts being undertaken towards settlement of the Karabakh conflict. 

And Edward Nalbandian invited his Belgian colleague Didier Reynders to Armenia.
