Armenia’s Ombudsman submits to UN report on children’s rights

YEREVAN.- Armenia’s Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan has presented a report to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.

Armenia has rarified Convention on the Rights of the Child, thus accepting that children, taking into account their age, physical and mental development, are a particularly vulnerable group and are in need of constant protection and care.

Taking into account the conclusions issued by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child in 2004, the Ombudsman’s office established a department on the rights of the child.

This year’s report presents Armenia’s implementation of the Convention provisions. The report was written taking into account the third and fourth periodic reports as well as alternative reports submitted by NGOs.
