ISTANBUL. – The ‘New Awakening’ Armenian movement in Istanbul, Turkey, released a statement in connection with the court procedure of the Armenian serviceman Sevag Balikçi, who was killed last April 24. The statement calls on everybody to gather together in the Taksim Square in downtown Istanbul on Wednesday.
“Sevag Balikçi was killed by his co-serviceman during his military service on April 24, 2011. A year and four months have passed since, however, the murderer is still free. Moreover, the court procedure is held in Diyarbakir which makes it difficult to follow. In this dispute we call everybody who has conscious to support Balikçi’s family and to follow the court process,” the statement reads.
