YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Gyumri city Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan is in France these days, Zhoghovurd daily writes.

“He had decided a long time ago that he needs to get out of the country on the days of the elections for Gyumri’s mayor, so that ‘the devils would not stir him any trouble.’ Ghukasyan was worried that the [police] search for his son could ‘tumble’ on him. [And] That is why he went to the city of his dreams, Paris, for the last time with mayor’s status.

Nonetheless, we attempted to clarify from Ghukasyan’s spokeswoman Lilit Aghekyan as to why the Mayor headed to France. Not denying this information, she [, however,] said: ‘I will not make any comment on that,’” Zhoghovurd writes.
