YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia did not receive a formal proposal for Eurasian Union membership, Premier Tigran Sargsyan noted Wednesday at the National Assembly.  

As per Sargsyan, it is not yet clear as to the Eurasian Union’s format and to what type of tools and documents will be created. At present, heated discussions are underway with respect to the Union’s future, and Sargsyan noted that Armenia likewise is participating in these discussions.    

The PM also stated that Armenia is interested in the integration processes with the Eurasian Union and the European Union (EU) alike, but added:

“The statements by Russian political authorities coincide with our position. The Eurasian integration processes cannot be contradistinguished with the EU integration processes. If there will be documents as to what the EurAsEC [Eurasian Economic Community] will present, we will discuss the membership issue,” Armenia’s PM noted.
