STEPANAKERT. – Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev’s statement is the continuation of the “axe policy” which Azerbaijan’s leadership has adopted from the moment of its criminal arrangement with the Hungarian authorities, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) President’s Press Secretary Davit Babayan told Armenian News-NEWS.am, commenting on Aliyev’s statement that “the negotiation process has reached a deadlock.”

“With this statement, Azerbaijan wishes to fail the OSCE Minsk Group’s activities, it attempts to destabilize the situation in the region, and wishes to put the blame upon others,” Babayan noted.

In his words, Azerbaijani media’s information, according to which Karabakh’s NGOs are “seeking contacts and asking the Azerbaijani side to fund some projects,” has become yet another step.

“Karabakh organizations responded to this disinformation forthwith. But, with this step, Azerbaijan is destroying the final platforms for public contact between the parties. Such actions must cause a serious concern among the international community, and urgent steps are in need to make that country, which is on the road to aggression, come to its senses,” Davit Babayan stated, and added that the entrenchment of such demeanor could lead Azerbaijan to yet another disaster.

“Nagorno-Karabakh has always been on the side of peace. But, together with that, it has stated on numerous occasions that it is capable of protecting its independence and security, and it does not intend on giving in to provocation,” NKR President’s Press Secretary concluded.
