YEREVAN. – Vice President Wolfgang Thierse of the German Bundestag (Parliament), escorted by Armenian National Assembly (NA) Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov, paid a visit to the Armenian Genocide Memorial and placed flowers to the monument erected in memory of the Genocide victims.
Also, Thierse toured the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute and wrote as follows in the guestbook: “We condemn the Genocide and engage in establishing peace and protecting human rights.”
“The German people remember the crimes that were committed in the 20th century against other peoples as well. In 2005 the German Bundestag condemned the massacring of the Armenian people and expressed a position in relation to the historical events. We believe such historical events must be assessed and condemned,” Wolfgang Thierse told news reporters
